Miguelito’s Venezuelan
Friday, February 19, 2010
If you find yourself in the Galleria neighborhood and need a bite to eat, check out the unique Miguelito’s Venezuelan Restaurant. Opened in 2004, this cozy little place just might be one of the only authentic Venezuelan restaurants in Houston.
Serving delicious platos fuerte like grilled and fried meats and seafood along with sides of plantains, rice, yucca, and avocado – all of Miguelito’s specialties are based on Miguel’s own family recipes. The first time you visit the restaurant you might want to give the sampler plate a try, it gives you great idea of all the different items offered. A favorite is the Albondigas con arroz y tajadas which is a tasty plate of Venezuelan meatballs served with rice and plantains.
On your way out, be sure and check out the small gift shop attached to the restaurant. Selling special Venezuelan sweets and sundries, you can pick up cool handmade handicrafts, candies, grocery items, even Venezuelan Belmont cigarettes. Miguelito’s is located very near our office, so if we are lucky enough to have the chance to take a proper lunch break, we often try to pay a visit to Miguel and his very special restaurant.

I always pass this place and it catches my eye–that bright yellow exterior!, and wonder about it. You’ve inspired me to stop in on one of these next drive-bys!
