The first Saturday (TONIGHT!) of every month DJ Brett Koshkin & the Bayou City Soul Club hosts a party at Boondocks at 1417 Westheimer called Dirty Honey. Playing rare and obscure funk and soul 45′s – this dance party looks completely awesome. Check out the party’s myspace page here for more information. Admission is free!

Dirty Honey is a rarity in the Houston bar scene- an old school dance party with a dark, packed dance floor- an enthusiastic appreciative crowd- and lacking any pretension found in mid-town, downtown or upper kirby area bars.
Added flair: b-boy crews showing up to break old school, and of course cheap cold lone stars.

P.S. A little birdie told me that tonight Brett will be mixing in new vinyl recently acquired in Paris, deep digging in India and in Amsterdam mixed in with his deep Houston soul.
