Dr. Sketchy

Looking for some New Years self improvement that doesn’t involve something boring like going to the gym? Improve your artistic skills by signing up with Dr. Sketchy for some life drawing fun!
Billed as the “anti-art school” its everything that you wished took place in your old art classes. Check out this description from the Sketchy website: “Dr. Sketchy’s is what happens when Cabaret meets art school. When saucy models meet costume-themed boozefests. When artsy kids meet hip hop sketch clubs“. Combining drawing contests, beautiful people, great music with food and wine from some of Houston’s best restaurants (i.e. Beaver’s…wink) this sounds super cool and fun.

Started by illustrator and burlesque performer Miss Molly Crabapple (!) in NYC back in ’05 as a way to combine some of her favorite things; she thought of this get-together as a way to liven up her boring art classes that she attended and modeled for. The idea proved to be very successful, Dr. Sketchy life drawing parties now take place in over 40 cities around the country!
For more information and to purchase tickets for Houston’s next Dr. Sketchy..check the Sketchy website HERE.

Thanks for the love! We love our artists, models and gawkers with a ridiculous passion
For anyone that wants to come by just to hang out, we have naughty coloring pages and crayons — uhm… and a bar if boozing it up is your activity of choice. All are welcome!
Thanks for the great post! One note- you may have a typo in this line “Started by illustrator and burlesque performer Miss Molly Crabapple (!) in NYC back in ‘85 ”
Started in in ’05. In 1985, I was 2 : )
