Legendary music producer Brian Eno was just quoted in Prospect Magazine as saying “There’s a whole generation of people able to access almost anything from almost anywhere, and they don’t have the same localised stylistic sense that my generation grew up with. It’s all alive, all “now,” in an ever-expanding present, be it Hildegard of Bingen or a Bollywood soundtrack. The idea that something is uncool because it’s old or foreign has left the collective consciousness.”
Nothing sums this idea up better than the Texas band White Denim. The Austin based trio mixes musical genres like classic rock, funk, psychedelia, punk, country and even dub reggae with a certain ease. With a new album out called “Fits” the focused musicianship of White Denim shows that the current Texas music scene is totally alive and well.
