Have You Been Good This Year?

Monday, October 19, 2009

By now you’ve probably seen the completely ridiculous $25,000 “Cupcake Car” offered in the 2009 Christmas Book by legendary Texas retailer, Neiman Marcus. Tempting customers with the dessert shaped vehicle by using such descriptives as ‘crash a parade’, ‘putter about the ‛hood’ or ‘have a crowd of kids chasing after you’ (creepy) the buyer should get whatever is coming to them while wearing their sprinkles covered hat.

On the other hand, if you keep on flipping the pages, you’ll come across another item that might be more to your liking. This years “His & Hers” offering is a 2011 ICON A5 Sports Aircraft – even though this fantastic item definitely seems to be more “his” than “hers” to me.

Back in 2004 the FAA created the new “Light Sport Aircraft” category to encourage recreational consumer piloting at low altitudes. According to the Neiman’s listing there is also a new Sports Pilots License that is fairly easy to get ahold of.  This very cool two seater aircraft seems to have a lot going for it…it can land on water, takes aviation fuel or regular automotive gasoline, and most importantly has an ipod dock for all your tunes.  I also like the fact that it has “removable side windows so that you can dangle your arms out in the wind and the sun”…what?  For just a mere $250,000 they’ll even throw in flying lessons for two (that must be the “her’s” part) that is- if your wife/girlfriend/partner is even still speaking to you at this point.

I do have to admit it does look pretty fun- and I certainly wouldn’t mind if this aircraft landed under my tree this year.
