Back to the Future
Wednesday, September 23, 2009
This Friday at the William Reaves Fine Art Gallery in conjunction with Houston Mod, a reception for the exhibit “Back to the Future: Elements of Modern in Mid Century Texas Art” will be taking place. During the middle years of the twentieth century dynamic changes were taking place across the nation, as well as in Texas. Modern influences started appearing in Texas art and gained interest due to interested art patrons, new venues to show work, special exhibitions, and juried art shows.
This current exhibition takes a look at some of the best examples from the decades between 1945 and 1965. With over sixty work on display, a special gallery talk is planned by Houston Mod to showcase some of the best artist of this period. This event takes place from 5-7pm on Friday 9/25.
