Houston Mod

I recently came across an article about a lost Houston architectural gem called The Carousel House or The Cohen House, that was built in 1964 that had been razed to clear its property for a new home. Seeing the pictures of this special property really got me curious about what might be being done to save such great Houston houses like this one. A little searching around led me to the fantastic site called Houston Mod. This Texas based non-profit organization does exactly that. By assembling an esteemed group of members to get involved locally, they petition home owners and local communities to preserve historically significant houses such as these. Publishing studies of important Houston architecture, and organizing exhibits about lost homes, the group hopes to educate the public on the importance of saving such important local residences as these. A very worthwhile organization, check out these lost architectural beauties from the Houston Mod website and consider becoming a member.
